The Committee and Management of Tiverton Town FC wish to make the following statement:
On Friday 21st April Mr Ian Moorcroft announced his intention to stand down as Chairman of Tiverton Town FC.
Ian’s involvement with the club stems back over 20 years when he was invited to join the Board of Directors. Whilst there have been many changes to the structure of this board Ian has been the one constant.
Ian took on the role of Chairman at a time of great uncertainty for both the club and non-league Football in general as the Country navigated the COVID pandemic and a sustained period of enforced lockdown and, of course no football.
Ian has supported Tiverton Town FC both financially and with his time, knowledge and business expertise. Through his significant financial input the club has continued to play in the Southern League Premier Division and has enabled the first team management to field a team that is extremely competitive at this level.
He has also generously supported the club financially off the field with improvements to the Sports Bar, Function Room, roof and car park. The facilities we enjoy today are the envy of any club in this league and above.
Ian owns a hugely successful business R&M Wholesale, our long term sponsor and he has kindly pledged to continue as our shirt sponsor for the 2023/24 season. He now feels the time is right to take a step back from his day to day business activities and wishes to enjoy his retirement with his wonderful wife Barbara. He will continue to support the club where he can in an advisory capacity for which we are extremely grateful.
Ladysmead will always be known as the Ian Moorcroft Stadium in appreciation of Ian’s generous and steadfast support over the past 20 years. He hands over the reigns of the club in great shape, debt free and viable for individuals with the time, impetus and fresh ideas to continue our journey in the Southern League.
While no words can truly show how much we appreciate what Ian has done for the club we wish to put on record our sincere thanks for a commitment rarely seen in football.
Both Ian and Barbara will always be warmly welcomed at the club and Ian will be supporting any incumbent with his expertise.
This announcement does mean that the structure of the club will need to be considered and are inviting expressions of interest from parties who may wish to form a new board for the 2023/24 season. Any expressions of interest should be addressed to Acting Vice Chairman Mathew Thresher matthresher@icloud.com All enquiries will be treated with the utmost confidence.
A date for an open meeting for supporters and anyone interested in volunteering their time will be announced shortly.
No further statement will be announced at this time.
