Fancy Pitching In?

Writer: Tiverton Town Media TeamTiverton Town Media Team

LOVE footy?

Have a passion for the outdoor life?

Possess community spirit?

Just want to try something new?

If any or all of the above apply to you, then you could be just the person for whom we are looking.

We are putting together a brand new volunteer Grounds Team to look after the pitch at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium.

We are looking for someone to take on the role of Head of Groundstaff and lead a group of half-a-dozen supporting volunteers.

Whether you fancy being in charge or taking one of the support roles, enthusiasm is way more important than knowledge or experience, and you can contribute as much or little time as you want.

Volunteers are the unsung heroes of football community; without them, none of us would be able to participate in the game we all love.

Volunteering, though, is a two-way street - there are many benefits that choosing to volunteer can bring, from making new friends and improving mental health, to learning new skills and becoming more active.

Interested? Here are some of the things that you could be doing to help our manager Rob Dray and his team when they take the field:

  • Line marking - from the centre circle to the six-yard box, those crisp white lines will not paint themselves.

  • Brushing and mowing - adorn your pitch those iconic green stripes.

  • Keeping grass healthy - nurture the grass with some TLC, seeding, sanding and fertilising.

  • Getting ready for kick-off - make sure goalposts, nets and the surface are ready to be put through their paces

  • Patching up damage - repair any damage and divots on your pitches after matches.

And here are some of the benefits that getting involved can bring:

  • Mental health - clear your mind and make new connections

  • Physical health and getting outdoors - get those steps in and enjoy being out in the fresh air.

  • Learning a new skill - you are never too old or young to add a new string to your bow and learn something new

  • Meet new people - meet friendly faces and forge new friendships.

  • Give back to your community - Make a difference and gain a sense of purpose through helping your local community.

  • Get involved in football - Whether you are an armchair expert or aspiring player, get closer to the game you love and make it a better place.

If the above has piqued your interest, please get in touch with us by emailing contact@tivertontownfc.co.uk, or call 01884 693 989.
