Programme notes v Hungerford Town

Good afternoon and welcome to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium for our game today against Hungerford Town. I’d like to welcome the Hungerford Town Team, Committee and Supporters to Tiverton.

First and foremost, the Executive Committee of Tiverton Town Football Club would like to welcome back Ian Moorcroft to the club as Chairman. To have Ian back at the helm of this great club is fantastic news, he is a person who has a deep passion for this club and has contributed significantly over the last 15-20 years. This, in addition to a number of other initiatives we are working on means 2024 will be a significant year in the history of this club. This club is a special one, it has history and a ground to be proud of. Now is the time to come together and make some real progress in creating a ‘Community Club’ for the local community. With this in mind, we have launched the ‘Club Committee’ with the focus of getting more people involved in the club. We have an open evening on Wednesday 6th December and I hope as many of you as possible will come forward.

There have been a number of changes at our club since our last home game, but the main focus must be on Leigh and the team who over the last three games have made some excellent progress. Seven points from our last nine including two away wins is a very positive outcome and we can all see the green shoots of growth. We must not get carried away, there are significant challenges ahead but it’s a great start. Well done.

The Under 18s have been showing some real promise with some cracking results recently. These guys are the future, if you are able to support them in any way then I know they’d appreciate it.

Off of the pitch we lost our Chairman Michael and Secretary Nikki at the end of last month. Personally, I was very sad to see them both go. I know the amount of time and effort both of them put into the club, a lot of work behind the scenes which wasn’t necessarily visible to everybody. I’d like to take this chance to thank both of them and wish them every success in the future.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people who have come together over the last month and kept us moving forward. The Committee, Andy, Debbie and Mark. Ramsay, Gordon, Rick, Darren, Viv, Bryon, Marion, Iain, Kimm, Victoria, Richard Pears, Richard Sleep, Wally, Ellie, Tracy many more (apologies if I’ve missed anybody off the list). We are a team, and that’s the only way we can move forward.

Onwards and Upwards.
