JOSH Jones believes Tiverton Town are getting things right, on and off the field.

The centre-back, the latest Yellow to sign up for the 2024-25 Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South campaign, has enjoyed his two previous seasons at Ladysmead and expects that to continue under manager Leigh Robinson and his assistant Ben Gerring.

He said: “We've always had some really good groups of players, really good team-spirits. It's done really well behind the scenes as well, lots of good people.

“We’ve signed some key players from last year. I think Robbo and Gez have got some exciting signings in the pipeline and it looks like the squad is building really well.”

Tivvy had a disappointing and disjointed season in 2023-24, but ultimately showed their mettle by fighting a successful fight against relegation. Josh wants to put that behind them and build upwards.

“As a team, we're going to be quite a new side, so we can’t go expecting ridiculous things of ourselves,” he said. “We want to finish in the top half of the table for sure and then, if we can get towards the play-offs, even better.

“Personally, I just want to defend well, keep the ball out of the net as much as possible, and help the team.

“When we get back for pre-season, it will be all systems go and lots of hard work, preparing for August 10."
