FIRST impressions counted when Calum Thomas was looking to continue his football career following his release by Torquay United at the end of last season.
The teenage defender still had fresh memories from his successful six-game spell at Ladysmead towards the end of the Yellows’ 2023-24 Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South campaign.
Featuring in six matches, although only two at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium, Calum was impressed by pretty much everything that he experienced, especially the management team of Leigh Robinson and Ben Gerring.
“I really liked it here,” he said. “It allowed me to start enjoying my football and having a first look at playing in men's football. The two months I spent here were good for me.
“Leigh and Gez spoke to me about returning and I like what they're doing with the club and where it’s going, the group of lads, and the environment in the dressing room.”
Calum has a twin focus for the new campaign. He said: “For myself, just to improve and get a first proper year playing week in and week out in men’s football, progressing from my time with Torquay.
“For the team, doing as well as we can – maybe get to the play-offs – and let the fans enjoy the football that we’re playing.
“I’m really looking forward to pre season a lot. I can’t wait to see the new group and the lads I played with last year, start to build and push on to when the season begins.”
Calum Thomas is available for sponsorship for the 2024-25 season. If you would like to sponsor him, or for further details, please email chairman@tivertontownfc.co.uk
