The day is nearly here when we play for the Martin Ingram Memorial cup. Thursday the 12th August 7.30pm KO v Taunton Town Youth. Many of us think regularly about Martin and what he has done for youth football over the years, please find time to come down and show your appreciation. You know he would of and will be looking down watching the game.
Sadly on the 12th August Martin Ingram who was to be the Tiverton Town U18's Manager passed away. The Martin Ingram Memorial Cup has been arranged to be played at Speeds Meadow in at Cullompton FC's ground, on the anniversary of his passing between two clubs very much in his heart.
As well as being a great friend and the reason the Tiverton Town U18’S was set up with him as manager, he was also manager to many of the current team in the past.
A massive link spanning over two decades with Taunton Town made the decision to play Taunton for this annual cup a no brainer. Very well known throughout the South West in footballing circles his son Simon was also Martyn Rogers captain at Taunton Town.
Football development and in particular youth football was Martin's passion and both clubs are very excited to see the lads playing in memory of Martin.
With the game being held on the 1st anniversary of his death the winners will be presented with a trophy by Simon Ingram.
It has been agreed to make this an annual event and next year to be played at Taunton Town.
The game will be £5 entry with all takings being split between Cancer research and the St Margret’s Taunton Hospice where Martin was well looked after.
It would a fitting tribute to Martin as I know there were so many people that wanted to attend his funeral but couldn’t because of covid restrictions, now you can. So wear bright clothes or your football colours and above all have a huge smile for our friend Martin.
