Match Preview | Honiton Town

Honiton Town v Tiverton Town

Bayside Graphics Devon St Luke’s Bowl

Wednesday 24th September 7:30pm Kick off

Mountbatten Park

The Yellows make their bow in this seasons Devon St Luke's bowl on Wednesday evening when they make the relatively short journey to South West Peninsula Premier East side Honiton Town. For this first round tie, talking to Asa Hall he intends to field a strong side and utilise his squad.

Leroy Venn is in charge of the Hippos’ and is into his fourth season with Honiton, having initially arrived with Dan Tavander in a dual-management role. Tavender often captains the side and is no longer part of the management team. Both Venn and Tavender have vast experience of the Devon football scene.

Attacking player Luke Paramore, who is often amongst the goals for the Hippos’, is a former development player for Tiverton Town and his brother Adam is also a regular in Honiton’s starting line-up.

Forward Jordan Harris was a prolific marksman for Exmouth in the Western League and was part of the team that were promoted to The Southern League Division 1 South, scoring 12 goals in the league below in the 2022/23 season. His goalscoring nous found plenty of admirers.

Joe Chamberlain has won many plaudits in recent campaigns for the Hippos and the pacey attack minded player is known for his spectacular strikes for the east Devon side, that are heavily homegrown.

Our hosts were in FA Vase action at the weekend, when they were edged out by Radstock, however, in their last league game they narrowly defeated Newton Abbot Spurs 3-2 away from home.

Asa Hall and Steve Orchard’s men will be looking to gain a result that will give them momentum going into Saturday’s six pointer at Weymouth. It will be an opportunity for players to stake a claim for a place in the matchday eleven then and for others to consolidate their positions in the team.

There is plenty of motivation for both sides to do well and come kick off, this will undoubtedly be a competitive encounter.
