JEFF Forkuo believes that Ladysmead is "the right place to be".

The 19-year-old defender has signed for Yellows following a successful trial, which included playing in several matches, so has had plenty of time in pre-season to experience the Tivvy family.

That experience has given the former Plymouth Argyle Academy player a valuable insight into the whole-club set-up, and he said: "It's the right place to be. The club is a big club; the location is great for me. It’s a really good set of lads, as well. Also the aspirations of the club - I wanted to be part of it.

"I’ve been welcomed straight away. I’m really looking forward to getting going. It’s my first full season in a while, so I’m just buzzing for it and ready to start on August 10."

Jeff was released by Argyle last summer and has since played for Western Peninsula League Dobwalls, as well as trialling with Liskeard and Taunton, before choosing to help out with Tivvy's 2024-25 Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South campaign.

“I think we’re looking at the top half of the table," he said. "To push for the higher end of it. Individually, I just want to showcase what I can do at this level and prove myself in men’s football.

"I have loads of energy. I put 100% into every game, get on the ball as much as possible, and try to make things happen. Off the ball, I like doing the dirty work - winning the ball back for the team, tackling and intercepting.”
