Tiverton score 4 to overcome favourites Poole

Tiverton got the game underway against a Poole side who many fancy for promotion this season. Both teams started brightly and created a couple of half chances each.

On nineteen minutes Tivvy's Jordan Lam was brought down in the box and the ref had no hesitation and pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Louis Morison and converted the spot kick to put Tiverton 1-0 up. Poole looked for a quick reply but a low cross into the Tivvy box was easily claimed by Lewis Williams.With twenty six minutes on the clock a great Tivvy move found Dylan Jones who played in Niall Thompson and his low cross into the box was helped into the net by Poole defender Jamie Whisken to put Tiverton 2-0 up.

Tivvy were well on top and a Morison corner found Josh Jones in the box but his header was well saved by Cairney in the Poole goal. With thirty two minutes gone Poole got their self right back in the game with a move that split the Tivvy defence and was finished off by Luke Pardoe to make the scoreline 2-1. Eight minutes later and Tiverton restored their two goal lead when Jamie Richards was on the far post to head home to make it 3-1 in Tivvy's favour.

With the game going into added on time in the first half Niall Thompson went around the keeper to score Tivvy's fourth goal and made the halftime score 4-1. Poole came out all guns blazing and within a minute of the re start Jamie Whisken pulled one back for the home side to make it 4-2. Poole were then awarded a free kick on the edge of the Tivvy box after a foul by Jamie Richards which the defender was booked for.

The ball into the Tivvy box was headed towards the top corner of the net but they were denied by a brilliant save by Lewis Williams who tipped the ball over the bar. Poole were really pushing for another goal which would get them right back in the game. With the home side going all out Tiverton on a couple of occasions found space in the Poole defence but could not find the goal that would put the game to bed. The ref indicated that there would be seven minutes of added on time but neither side could add to the scoreline and the game ended
