Tiverton Town AFC scores in £100K Buildbase bursary
Builders’ merchant Buildbase has awarded £10,000 worth of building materials to Tiverton Town FC.Following the club’s application to the Buildbase Non-league Club Renovation programme, Tiverton Town FC, along with nine other clubs taking part in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Vase competitions, will be awarded building materials to renovate its facilities.Judges from Buildbase and the FA chose Tiverton Town as one of the ten winners because of the great benefit the project would have on the club as well as its local community.Tiverton Town will use the bursary to revamp its kitchen. The club’s Chief Executive Mathew Thresher explained:“Our clubhouse has undergone extensive refurbishment including a new roof, bar and function room with most work completed by volunteers. This has enabled us to open every day and attracted s new audience of mother and baby groups, healthy eating and social engagement groups and charities. As well as hosting matchday events the facility is used by our Under 18s and Ability Counts teams.“However, our existing kitchen is inadequate for our needs and we have to rely on outside caterers. It’s in urgent need of renovation and replacement. The sink and work tops need modernising as well as the flooring and walls. We also need new cooking appliances, fridges and equipment storage.“Winning this competition means a lot. We will be able to provide hot and cold refreshments both on matchdays and on a commercial level to raise much needed revenue.”The local Wellington Buildbase branch will be supporting the club with information, advice and supplying the building products required for the project.Martin Bull is Buildbase Procurement Director and was part of the judging panel. He said: “We had a huge response to our renovation competition this year. Tiverton Town did a fantastic job of explaining how the bursary would be used and the effect of that on the wider community as well as on their ability to run as a business. We look forward to seeing how the project plays out over the coming months.”Buildbase has been running a programme to transform the facilities of clubs taking part in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Vase competitions since it became the title sponsor of the FA Trophy and Vase in 2016.See how our other previous bursary winners have transformed their club
