Jamil joins Yellows

Tiverton Town are delighted to announce the loan signing of Jamal Roberts from Vanarama National South side Truro City until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Jamil marks the first signing in Asa Hall’s tenure as player-manager at Tiverton Town, Hall will be hoping to bolster the club’s defence in the fight against relegation in the business end of the season.

Matt Conridge, Tiverton Town FC Vice-Chairman has said ‘We’re all really excited to see Jamil join up with Tiverton as we begin the run up to the end of what’s been a rocky season so far.’ Conridge added, ‘It’s important that we, as a board, get behind Asa and Steven and support them to reach the goal of survival in whatever way we can and we are looking forward to doing just that.’

Talking about his new loan signing, Asa Hall said, ‘I’m really pleased to get Jamil through the door at Tiverton, he’s a lad that’s spoken of very highly by people that I know and trust in the football, he’s going to add a lot of quality and experience to our side.’

A product of Plymouth Argyle’s academy, Roberts has since spent time applying his trade in the US and Australia. After leaving Plymouth as teenager he made 76 appearances for college side Marshall Thundering Herd before being drafted to MLS side Sporting Kansas City shortly after the pandemic where he went on to make 16 appearances and score 2 goals for their reserves side Sporting Kansas City 2.

In 2022 Jamil signed for South Georgia Tormenta FC where he scored the winning goal in the USL League One Final against Chattanooga Red Wolves after coming on as substitute in the 78th minute to lift the title.

Australia came calling next as Roberts signed for Northern Premier League Queensland side Peninsula Power on a two year deal, making 22 appearances and scoring 1 goal for the club before returning to the USL League One for Chattanooga Red Wolves.

In January of 2025 Jamil signed for Truro City until the end of the season and has gone on to make one appearance from the bench.

Speaking to the clubs media team for the first time, Jamil said "I`m delighted to sign for Tiverton and I`m really looking forward to the challenge. We`ve got 9 very important games between now and the end of the season and I`m ready to help the club in any way I can".

Welcome to Tiverton, Jamil !
