TIVERTON Town are about to take an ambitious and exciting step on the road to transforming the club's development.
The Yellows' Executive Committee will, next month, present its ideas on how the Pitching In Southern League side can fulfil a desire to be a successful club for the local community, immersed in the local community, and run by the local community.
In pursuit of that ambition, the Committee is inviting supporters, sponsors, local businesses and dignitaries to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium on Tuesday, December 10, so that all potential stakeholders can have their say on how they believe the club can make progress and achieve success, on and off the pitch.
Vice-chairman Matthew Conridge said: "The Committee believes that Tiverton Town is at a pivotal moment in its 110-year storied history and it is now time for everyone at the club, and in the town, and in the wider community, to unite and move forward together.
"We have always believed that the correct path for the club to follow in the 21st century is to become a community-focused organisation driven by a passion to serve the whole of Tiverton.
"Our Tiverton Town: the Future meeting on December 10 is vital for Tiverton, not just the club, but the whole town and the entire community, and it is fair to say that what we will be exploring is more revolution, than evolution.
"That is why we are inviting not only our fans, but also people who represent our locality, be it in business or politics or some other valued service. It is important we and stakeholders share views with each other."
The current Executive Committee took over the running of the club more than a year ago, and immediately pledged to place the Yellows at the heart of the community. Since then, they have introduced a number of initiatives in pursuit of that aim.
Among these, they have expanded the size of the Executive to bring in necessary talents, and established a Club Committee, run by and for supporters, that has a direct line to the Executive. On-line ticket sales have improved the match-day experience of fans; and special match-days that are dedicated to local youth teams have taken place.
Indeed, among those whose voices will heard on December 10 will be those representing some of Tiverton's young athletes. The Boys' Under-18s regularly play home games at Ladysmead, which has also hosted matches for the Ability Counts and Girls Under-16s teams.
Matthew said: "We are great supporters of youth football, and our close relationship with organisations representing young people is a win for them, for us, and for the town.
"Everything we do underlines our commitment to the community of Tiverton. When the aspirations of the club and the community align, we are well on the way to becoming a successful club, and becoming a successful club off the pitch is a vital step to achieving success on it."
Tiverton Town: the Future takes place at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium on Tuesday, December 10, starting at 7.30pm.
