Weston Super Mare came into the game having scored ten goals without reply in their last two games and were sitting in fifth place in the table so Tiverton knew it was always going to be a hard game. Tivvy's task was made even harder when first choice keeper Lewis Williams failed a late fitness test and had to be replaced by Jimmy Weeks in between the sticks just before kick off. Tiverton got the game underway but in the very first minute Jimmy Weeks was called into action and pulled off a great save to stop Nick Mccootie from giving Weston the perfect start.
Tiverton had to wait until the sixth minute to have their first attack on the Weston goal when Jordan Lam broke away and his cross into the box found Louis Morison but his shot was saved by Max Harris in the Weston goal.
Tivvy's next opportunity came in the twelfth minute a Morison corner was played short to Nelson Iseguan who put the ball into the box where it found the head of Gary Warren but his header went wide of the Weston goal. Four minutes later and a long range effort from Weston's number eight Lloyd Humphries curled past Weeks in the Tivvy goal to put Weston 1-0 up. Tiverton nearly got straight back in the game when Morison played in Theo Simpson who cut into the box and was just about to shoot when Harris came out and smothered the ball to stop the striker in his tracks. On twenty minutes a Morison free kick found Gary Warren who got the faintest of touches on the ball but it was easily saved by Harris. Tiverton's chances were few and Weston were dominating most of the play but Tivvy continued to try and find a way back into the game. The opportunity they were looking for came their way in the thirty sixth minute when the referee awarded them a penalty.
Up stepped Louis Morison who sent the keeper the wrong way to make the score 1-1. Tiverton had a chance just before halftime when Weston's number four Jacob Cane was booked for a foul and from the resulting free kick a Warren header went just over the bar and the half finished all square at 1-1. Weston got the second half underway and a early corner went just over the bar for the visitors. The next Weston attack was stopped when Alfie Pond pulled the Weston striker back as he went past him which resulted in the Tivvy man being shown a yellow card. On fifty nine minutes Weston made their first change on the game with James Dodd replacing Jacob Cane. A great run by Jordan Lam down the line and cut into the Weston box ended with Lam going to ground but the referee waved away any penalty appeals. Weston made their second change of the evening when Marlon Jackson replaced Nick Mccootie. This was followed by Tiverton making their first change of the game with Andy Watkins replacing Theo Simpson up front. Watkins first touch sent a great cross into the box which just floated wide of the far post.
On sixty eight minutes Jimmy Weeks was again called into action to save a long range Weston shot which he put out for a corner.
Weston then made their final change of the game with Jordan Bastin coming on for Elis Watts. Dan Hayfield was the next player to be shown a yellow card for a foul. The free kick was blasted into the Tiverton box and Weeks was there again to pull off a great save to keep the home side in the game. Tiverton made a double change with Harvey Greenslade and Chris Shephard replacing Nelson Iseguan and Louis Morison as they looked for the winning goal. But on eighty three minutes a one two in the Tivvy box was was foiled by Weeks at the expense of a corner. When the ball came into the box Weston's Sam Avery was there to put his side 2-1 up.
Tiverton tried to find a way back into the game but Weston stood firm and held onto their lead.
